You need to re-read this regularly, as it’s a continuous practice.

  1. Stay true to yourself.
  2. Communicate literally about the things you want. Don’t expect them to read between the lines.
  3. Take care of yourself. Eat right, sleep enough, exercise.
  4. Supportive of each other’s passions.
  5. Give space to each other’s private life, friends, work, and hobbies.
  6. Facilitate the other person to be the best they can be.
  7. Think 3x before saying something hurtful. You might just be irrational or tired. Humans are machines.
  8. Show that you care. Be interested in what they find interesting.
  9. When possible, involve them in your decision making.
  10. Plan regular quality time.
  11. Realize that you are 2 different individuals. Having amazing connection doesn’t mean that they are you.
  12. Don’t settle for less. Maintain your standards.
